ACT: Our climate plan

Since launching our climate target to become carbon-neutral across our value chain by 2045, we’ve built on our strong foundation with a Climate Plan called ACT. A summary for Awareness, Customer success and Transformation, ACT is how we move from words to action.

Leading the way

We want to become leaders in shaping a carbon neutral future. Based on market research, industry benchmarks and data analysis, Skanska ACT encompasses our global markets’ plans and business cases. Consisting of three building blocks: Awareness, Customer success and Transformation, all contain crucial elements from our different markets, each connecting actions and performances on a local as well as global level.

Awareness

To act as a change-maker for a climate smarter society we need to drive awareness of sustainable construction and development. Under our vast roof of competence, we know that every decision made counts. Starting from within our own organization, following up on our structures, data, and business decisions, we can lead by example. By advocating and communicating how we’re measuring our targets and financial models, we aim to spread awareness and transform the business towards a more conscious one.

Customer success

Cross-industry collaboration for sustainability innovation and success is necessary to solve the climate crisis. Low and zero carbon solutions will happen in unison with our partners and customers through the increased use of digital tools, smarter energy solutions and low-carbon offerings. We participate to develop sustainability standards for buildings and infrastructure. Third party certification and measurement are important drivers to make sustainability a part of the customer offering.

Transformation

The actions to reduce carbon emissions range from the planning phase through construction to demolition. We’re constantly transforming our operations to become climate smarter. This includes the choice of materials, pursuing resource efficiency and circularity. In addition, transitioning to renewable fuels, increasing our use of electricity from renewable sources, efficient transport solutions that make greater use of electrification and automation and strategic partnership for innovation will further decrease our emissions.
